Who runs it

The New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation conducts and manages provincial gaming. It is a Crown corporation, set up on June 26, 2008. Atlantic Lottery runs video lottery, ticket lottery and online gaming on its behalf. The four Atlantic provinces own Atlantic Lottery, and New Brunswick is one of them.

In the province's words, ALC.ca is the only legal and regulated online gambling platform in New Brunswick. Atlantic Lottery says other gambling sites cannot legally operate or advertise in Atlantic Canada. Overseas licences, it adds, do not change this. The statement covers Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island as well, since both are part of Atlantic Canada.

No provincial licensing or registration scheme for private online casinos was found in New Brunswick. Ontario, by contrast, has one. A licence held abroad by a private site is not, in Atlantic Lottery's view, a permission to operate here.

What ALC.ca offers

ALC.ca offers Digital Instants, iBingo and iCasino. Its Live Casino games are listed as available in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. New Brunswick is not named in that list. A reader in Halifax or Charlottetown will find their own province on it.

Every Atlantic Lottery product, ALC.ca included, is 19+ to buy, play or redeem.

In 2023-24, ALC.ca brought in $28.6 million in New Brunswick. Of that, $24.1 million came from iCasino. Those figures cover New Brunswick alone. The same year, the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation reported a rise in online gambling. The rise ran through regulated and unregulated platforms alike.
