About the Crossing Desk
The Crossing Desk is the collective name Next Door is written and signed under, not a person. It measures New Brunswick's four venues from the towns on the other side of the provincial line.
By the Crossing DeskChecked October 7 to 9, 2026
Why look from next door
The guide looks at New Brunswick from across the line. Grey Rock Casino, by Edmundston, sits right off the Trans-Canada and on the Canada-US border. Tobique Gaming Center is 25.6 km in a straight line from Presque Isle, Maine. From Amherst, Nova Scotia, Casino New Brunswick in Moncton is 61.9 km in a straight line. Wolastoq Casino is in Fredericton.
Each page answers the questions a neighbour brings. How far is the venue, in a straight line? What does the clock read there? What does the door ask for?
The clock question has a fixed answer. New Brunswick is one hour ahead of Maine and of Québec west of 63 degrees West all year. All three change their clocks on the same Sundays.
How facts are checked
The Crossing Desk checked venue facts on October 7 and 8, 2026. Border towns, time zones and door rules were checked on October 9, 2026. The sources were the venues' own pages, provincial and federal pages, laws and OpenStreetMap.
Town points are OpenStreetMap place points. Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac has no place point of its own, so the guide uses the label point of its town boundary. That point is the centre of former Cabano. Every distance is a straight line between map points, computed by the guide. None is a driving distance, and no page gives a travel time.
Where a venue's pages give different figures, the guide leaves the figure out or says that they differ. Holiday hours are not given here, so check them on the venue's own site.
